2. Digital Strom Smart — Home Assistant Integration
The Digital Strom Smart integration for Home Assistant sends a minimal anonymous telemetry ping to our server at startup and every 24 hours. The purpose is to understand how many active installations exist and which versions are in use.

In addition, our server receives your IP address as part of every HTTP request. This is standard network behaviour and is not stored beyond standard server access logs (max 30 days).
Legal basis (GDPR Art. 6)
Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — understanding active installations to maintain and improve the software. The data is pseudonymous and minimal.
Opt-out
Go to Settings → Devices & Services → Digital Strom Smart → Configure and disable the Send anonymous telemetry toggle. No data will be sent after saving.
Note: Trial licenses require telemetry to be enabled. Paid Pro licenses work without telemetry.
Data sharing
Data is processed on servers operated by Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany, EU). No data is sold or shared with third parties.
3. Pro License Validation
When you enter a Pro license key, it is sent to our server together with the first 8 characters of your dSS machine ID. This is used to validate the license and bind it to your installation. The license key and dss_id are stored in our license database.
4. Your Rights (GDPR)
You have the right to access, rectify, or erase your pseudonymous data. Since we only store the first 8 characters of the dSS machine ID and your IP (max 30 days), identification may not always be possible. Contact us at [email protected] to exercise your rights.
