Quick Overview

A miniature integrated smart tester that emulates a full-blown PD device and communicates with the PSE, identifying the power level available on the cable
Power Over Ethernet (PoE) is gaining popularity as a way to power remote devices like WiFi access points, surveillance cameras, door-entry systems, smoke-alert, intrusion detectors, etc… over the single network communications cable without the need for a local power adapter or mains socket.
The power source equipment is usually a PoE-enabled Ethernet switch and referred to as PSE, the end device receiving the power is referred to as PD (powered device).
The PoE method has been standardised as IEEE802.3af and IEEE802.3at which can provide up to 15W and 30W respectively over a power circuit at a voltage in the 48V-53V range. Power circuits are defined as pair combinations 12/36 (endspan) or 45/78 (midspan). If both power circuits are used simultaneously in 802.3at mode, a maximum of up to 60W can be put on the cable.
The ABI-TT1007S00 is a miniature integrated smart tester that emulates a full-blown PD device and communicates with the PSE. It can identify both the power level available on the cable (af or at mode) and the powercircuits used for it. Four LED indicators allow to identify six different power situations on the link.
The ABI-TT1007S00 tester can not be used for non-standard vendor-specific power schemes such as “passive PoE” which usually operate at much lower voltage in the range between 5V-24V.
